Popular Ghanaian actor, Michael Pesah, widely known as “Drogba,” from the series ‘Yolo,’ has finally addressed a viral video that falsely claimed he had been healed of his medical conditions during a visit to Christ Embassy Youth Church (CEYC) in August 2024.

Pesah, who has battled the rare neurological disorder for years, clarified that his testimony was misrepresented by a blogger, leading to misinformation and effects.

In a recent interview with DJ Slim, Pesah described his experience and testimony at CEYC as positive but misconstrued.

He noted that during the healing service, he felt unusually comfortable, a feeling he had never felt before.

“I noticed that I could sit on the chair for more than an hour. That was something I was never able to do for a long time. It was a miracle. Also, anytime I took off my nose mask, I went through severe anxiety. But in the church, when I took off my mask, there was no anxiety.

“So, I was just happy. It was a good thing for me. I felt comfortable and relaxed in the church. I could even get up from the chair and move about a little,” he said.

However, he insisted that these moments of relief did not mean a full healing.

“Since I felt a bit relieved, I decided to just give the testimony that I felt some relief. So, I said that ‘I felt better.’ Even though I was still in pain,” he said.

Despite being in pain at the time, his words were exaggerated by a blogger who claimed he had been “healed.”

“My issue isn’t with the pastor or the members. My issue is with the blogger who saw everything yet decided to cut a portion and twist my words and wrote, ‘Drogba said he is healed.’

“Even the people in the comment section kept asking for clarification, and the blogger never said anything,” he said.

This misinformation ultimately affected his donors, who may have believed his condition was resolved, potentially jeopardising the support he relies on for medical treatment.

“By then, the news had taken effect; I didn’t see anything I could have said to even revert the situation, and it was affecting the donations.

“So, what the blogger said was false and very wrong,” he said.

Pesah had been battling a mirage of illnesses for years. In 2024, the actor disclosed that he was battling multiple conditions simultaneously, which sparked public concerns.

The actor said he was currently battling sleep apnea syndrome, multiple debilitating disorders, and a Stiff Person Spectrum Disorder, a rare neurological condition that causes muscle stiffness and painful spasms.

He is also battling with GAD Positive Cerebellar Ataxia, which affects his coordination and balance.

Additionally, he experiences constant visual challenges, tremors, and dizziness.

    GoFundMe appeal

In August 2024, the actor launched a GoFundMe campaign to raise $280,000 for medical care overseas.

He mentioned that the high costs associated with his treatment have significantly drained his financial resources, prompting him to seek additional funding for his medical care outside the country.
