Ghanaian singer, Wendy Asiamah Addo, popularly known as Wendy Shay, has denied claims that she was brought in to replace the late dancehall artiste, Ebony Reigns, after her demise.
Speaking during the United Showbiz edition of October 26, 2025, the `Too Late’ hitmaker clarified that neither she nor her manager, Bullet, ever made such a statement.
However, Wendy Shay insisted that she has always aimed to create her own identity and not live in the shadow of the late singer.
It is very normal for women to receive unwanted advances from men in the industry – Wendy Shay
“I never said anywhere that I was coming to replace Ebony. Bullet too never said that.
“When you lose a loved one and they bring someone to replace her, were you supposed to love the replacement or not?” she quizzed.
Following Ebony’s untimely death in February 2018, Wendy Shay was signed onto RuffTown Records, a move that sparked public comparisons between the two artistes.
