Angel Asiamah, husband of embattled televangelist Patricia Asiedua Asiamah, widely known as Nana Agradaa, has addressed rising public speculation over his personal life following his wife’s conviction and 15-year jail sentence.
Delivering a sermon during a church service, Asiamah responded to critics questioning his ability to remain celibate in his wife’s absence.
According to him, he lived a celibate life until the age of 25, emphasising that if he could do it then, he can certainly endure the next 15 years while his wife serves her prison sentence.
“They keep asking, ‘Can you stay alone after all this?’ And I respond, ‘Why not?’ Maybe they’ve forgotten that from the time I was born until the age of 25, I had never slept with a woman. I lived a celibate life all those years, so if I could do that then, I can definitely do it now, even if my wife has to serve the full 15-year prison sentence,” Asiamah stressed.
Background
Nana Agradaa was sentenced to 15 years in prison with hard labour for defrauding members of her church by falsely promising to double their money.
The charges stemmed from a widely publicised incident during an all-night service at her Heaven Way Church, where congregants gave large sums expecting returns that never came.
The Accra Circuit Court found her guilty of defrauding by false pretence and charlatanic advertisement, citing her lack of remorse and prior offences.
