Kayso is a Ghanaian music producer Kayso is a Ghanaian music producer

The 2017 hit song “Grind Day,” produced by Kayso and released under the label Ground Up, reportedly earned the producer no money.

In a post shared on X on January 22, 2026, Kayso revealed that not only did he make nothing from “Grind Day,” but he also earned no income from the other songs he produced during that period.

The music producer described the experience as a learning curve that has shaped how he approaches contracts.

“For the record, I made GH¢0 from Grind Day and the songs from that period. It was a learning experience that shaped how I approach ownership and agreements today,” Kayso shared.

‘Ground Up’ record label messed me up – Lalid

Kayso is not the first artiste to speak out against Ground Up. Fast-rising artiste Lalid accused the record label of mishandling his career during his time with them.

In an X post on October 7, 2025, Lalid expressed gratitude to God despite the challenges he faced after leaving the label.

“If I tell you how I struggled after Ground Up f*cked me up you go talk no be true talk. Only thing we fit talk now is Glory to God,” Lalid wrote.

According to Lalid, his time at Ground Up did not unfold as initially agreed. He disclosed that although there was a written contract in place, he left the label only a few months after signing because things did not turn out as promised.

Meanwhile, Kwesi Arthur has accused executives of Ground Up of harassment, claiming ownership over his image and music, and attempting to block his independent releases.

The ‘Ground Up’ record label was once home to artistes such as Kwesi Arthur, Quamina MP, Twitch, Kofi Mole, Yung Demz, among others.

For the record, I made GHC 0 from Grind Day and the songs from that period. It was a learning experience that shaped how I approach ownership and agreements today.
