The Lady Captain of Achimota Golf Club, Kous Louanges Mang, has expressed her excitement and optimism for the future of competitive golf in Ghana after winning two trophies at the just-ended Johnnie Walker Annual Ghana Golf Championship.

Mang, who picked up awards for Ladies Nearest to the Pin and Ladies Group B Runner-Up, said the tournament was a refreshing boost for the sport and an important opportunity for local players to test their skills among international contenders.

“It was well planned and executed by the coridinators of the two-day championship and I really expressed by gratitude for the splendid job for the game of golf at Achimota and looking forward to more of such fantastic competitions in the coming months and years.

Hosted by Johnnie Walker Blue Label, the two-day championship, held at the Achimota Golf Club from 30–31 May 2025, attracted 120 golfers from 10 countries.

Participants competed across various categories, with music from Ghana’s Honey Groove Band and a formal awards ceremony rounding off the event.

The tournament also saw Philip Ayensu and Leticia Amponsah Mensah emerge as winners in the men’s and ladies’ main divisions respectively.

Though it was the first edition, the event has already earned a spot on the country’s golf calendar, with many players and spectators lauding the competitive spirit and camaraderie it fostered.
