Ghana’s Minister for Sports and Recreation, Hon. Kofi Iddie Adams, remains confident Mohammed Kudus will recover in time to play for the Black Stars at the 2026 FIFA World Cup despite growing concerns over the midfielder’s injury situation.
Kudus has been sidelined since the beginning of the year after suffering an injury during his time with English side Tottenham Hotspur, raising doubts over his availability for the tournament in North America.
However, the Sports Minister believes the 25-year-old will return in time to represent Ghana on the biggest stage.
“There are some who say Kudus could be ruled out of the World Cup but I know a miracle is on the way. He’ll be fit and be available to don the Ghana jersey from our opening match to whichever level we get to,” Adams said.
The Black Stars midfielder has been one of Ghana’s most important players in recent years and his possible absence has become a major concern for fans ahead of the tournament.
Despite the uncertainty surrounding his fitness, Kudus recently appeared in public in London where he was spotted courtside at a basketball game, looking relaxed and in good spirits as he continues his recovery process.
Ghana will begin their 2026 FIFA World Cup campaign against Panama at the BMO Field on June 17 before taking on England at the Boston Stadium on June 23. The Black Stars will then conclude their group stage fixtures against Croatia at the Lincoln Financial Field on June 27.
With preparations ongoing, Ghanaians will be hoping Kudus recovers fully and receives the medical clearance to join coach Carlos Queiroz’s squad for the tournament.
