Artiste manager and entertainment pundit, Bullhod has expressed his intention to petition the Operation Recover All Loot (ORAL) committee to investigate the erection of a statue in honor of former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo in Sekondi, Western Region.

According to him, the statue is a waste of taxpayer’s money and a “useless venture.”

During a discussion on United Showbiz, Bullgod questioned the priority of erecting a statue when the roads in the area are in poor condition and stated that those responsible for commissioning the statue should be held accountable and prosecuted.

“I have plans to petition the ORAL team to investigate whoever commissioned that statue. You cannot use state funds to erect such a useless statue. When the road there is bad. For eight years some of us have been talking, people are now talking and we will be talking,” he said.

Bullgod disclosed that he has consulted with his lawyer to understand the legal implications of destroying state property, highlighting the need for investigation into the regional minister who commissioned the statue.

For me, the regional minister who commissioned it needs to be investigated. I don’t know the laws that allowed him to erect a statue by the roadside,” he said.

Nana Addo’s statue was unveiled on November 6, 2024, at the Effia Nkwanta Regional Hospital roundabout in Sekondi-Takoradi, to honor the former President’s significant development contributions to the region.

The statue was erected by some chiefs as a token of appreciation for projects such as the three-tier Sino hydro PTC interchange, the redevelopment of the Takoradi Market Circle, and the expansion of the Takoradi port.

However, it was vandalized and destroyed just a few months later, in January 2025 .

What is ORAL?

Operational Recover All Loot (ORAL) is an initiative launched by President John Dramani Mahama before he formally assumed office.

The primary objective of ORAL is to recover misappropriated public funds and state properties, addressing corruption and promoting accountability in government.

The initiative has garnered support from anti-corruption advocates but also faced criticism, particularly from members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

They also suggest that the initiative may be politically motivated and could lead to harassment of former government officials.

Despite these criticisms, ORAL aims to promote accountability, deter corruption, and recover stolen assets, which can be redirected to critical sectors such as healthcare, education, and infrastructure.
