Sista Afia has recalled a troubling experience with a fan who allegedly groped her just before she went on stage to perform.

In an interview with Andy Dosty on Hitz FM, the singer revealed that she becomes uneasy whenever fans try to touch her while she’s making her way to the stage.

“I hate it when people like to touch me when I’m going on stage, especially the fans, and it’s something that I don’t like at all. It’s very uncomfortable for me. When they press me, I don’t like that press. One time, somebody pressed me so hard, and I hit him with a mic. The person had to go to the hospital,” she said.

Sista Afia recounted that during one of her performances, a fan pressed her “front part” so aggressively that she reacted on impulse, striking the individual with her microphone. The fan, she said, sustained injuries that later required hospital care.

She explained that despite the presence of security at the event, the act left her feeling deeply violated, and her immediate instinct was to defend herself.

“My first instinct was to react immediately. Sometimes, you have to go through the crowd to reach the stage, especially when the event isn’t well organised. So, when the guy did that, my first instinct was to find out who it was, and I hit him with the mic so hard,” she stated.

The singer also highlighted that such unpleasant experiences often happen at disorganized shows where performers are forced to navigate through crowds to reach the stage.

Reflecting on her journey in the music industry, Sista Afia noted, “I may never be a favourite in the music industry despite all my efforts.”
