On December 29, 2025, American YouTuber and streamer Darren Watkins Jr., popularly known as iShowSpeed, launched a 28-day, 20-country African tour, which includes a stop in Ghana.
Some media reports suggested that the American streamer would be hosted by dancehall artiste Shatta Wale during his visit.
However, Shatta Wale has dismissed these claims, stating emphatically that there has been no engagement between himself and iShowSpeed.
In a post shared on his X page on January 25, 2026, Shatta Wale noted that it would make more sense for other Ghanaian streamers, such as MadeinGhana, to meet iShowSpeed instead.
IShowSpeed speaks on why he ignored Peller, other Nigerian content creators
“There is no engagement between me and iShowSpeed. If they reach out, fine, but I think @madeinghana and other streamers make more sense rather than me meeting him. I will gladly thank him for that opportunity by just putting them on. God bless him for letting the world see how peaceful and beautiful Africa is,” Shatta Wale wrote.
iShowSpeed’s 28-day African tour was launched to celebrate his 21st birthday. The tour aims to showcase a different side of Africa to the world, its culture, relationships, and unique traditions.
He also hopes to introduce audiences to Africa’s diverse cuisine and experiences, ultimately highlighting the continent as a place worth visiting and exploring.
The tour began in Angola, where Speed was met by beachside crowds eager to see him. In Nigeria, he connected with celebrities, including musician Zlatan, streamer and content creator Shanks Comics, and human AI content creator Jarvis.
So far, iShowSpeed has toured Angola, Rwanda, Ethiopia, South Africa, Morocco, Nigeria, Benin, Zambia, Eswatini, and several other countries.
