Ghanaian musician Sarfo Newman

Ghanaian musician Sarfo Newman has recalled instances where he faced pressure from some people to take hard substances in order to enhance his performance in the creative arts industry.

In an interview on Hitz FM on November 27, 2024, the ‘Akokoa’ hitmaker stated that, despite the suggestions from others, he remains focused on his career and is determined not to resort to drugs.

“People have recommended that I try these substances to help me go wild on stage. But I won’t be doing that. I don’t think I can do that,” he said.

When asked about his unique sense of style and how he responds to critics, Sarfo Newman explained that Ghanaians are often resistant to new ideas and fresh characters in the industry.

“Well, you have to be different. I think Ghanaians are not always receptive to new characters. Take Carpet Man, for example, he covers his whole body. We tend to stick with what we know, but I believe we should move away from that mindset and embrace change,” he added.

Sarfo Newman gained widespread recognition in late 2023 with his hit song Akokoa, which has currently garnered over 116K views on YouTube.

He has also released several other singles, including ‘Miss Isabella’, ‘Sorrow Fly’, ‘March Past’, and ‘All the Way’.
