Joshua, a member of the popular ‘Keche’ music group, has expressed dissatisfaction with artistes who fail to attend the Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMAs) despite being nominated.

Speaking on GhanaWeb’s X Space on June 13, 2025, Keche Joshua noted that it is utterly disrespectful to Ghanaians and the global audience when musicians fail to show up on stage to receive their awards.

He emphasised that he becomes concerned whenever such incidents occur during the TGMAs.

“To be honest, it is a very bad thing to do… When they nominated Black Sherif [for BETs] I saw the way he posted it several times, but when it comes to the TGMAs I see some of our artistes don’t even post it. That was why I got angry when they gave the Best Group award to Team Eternity.

“Because I didn’t see them posting it online but Keche was making a lot of noise about it and people voted for us… This thing worries me because this is our Grammys,” he said.

Keche Joshua further called on patrons to support the TGMAs and other awards schemes in the country.

“For now this is what we have. It is a private company that organising this for us. We don’t have the backing of the government so we should let the people know that we appreciate the things they are doing for us so that they will continue doing it for us.

“I don’t even know why they are doing what they are doing. Sometimes an artiste will win an award and someone who isn’t even a member of the team will climb the stage for the plaque. It is not a good thing… We should take our TGMAs as a world cup,” he added.
