Ghanaian singer, Andrew Nii Commey Otoo, popularly known as Mr. Drew, has opened up on his disappointment about losing the “Collaboration of the Year” award to KiDi at the 2024 TGMAs.

In an interview on Daybreak Hitz on February 13, 2025, Mr. Drew explained that he felt he deserved to win the award, citing the high number of streams as evidence that his collaboration should have come out on top.

He believed his song had more impact, with strong performance and widespread popularity.

“I felt like the song had to win, based on the numbers and the performances. We perform the tune, and people sing it in every corner,” he said.

When asked if losing the award affected his relationship with KiDi, Mr. Drew confirmed that their bond is intact.

He said they are on good terms and even regularly meet and talk.

“No, I don’t think so. We always meet and talk. KiDi and I are cool; we never took any of this personally. We just enjoyed trolling each other on social media. He’s my brother, we are cool,” he added.

Mr. Drew also clarified that he didn’t interpret some of KiDi’s tweets as personal jabs.

He said he took them lightly, as he was still getting bookings for his song and wasn’t bothered by the posts.
