Blakk Rasta has revealed that despite performing for world leaders and releasing over a dozen albums, his music career has not brought him the financial stability he had hoped for.

The Ghanaian musician, born Abubakar Ahmed, was seen in Uganda at a church service led by Prophet Samuel Kakande, where he opened up about both financial and health challenges.

In a video from the gathering, he reflected on moments when his music placed him on some of the world’s biggest stages.

“I have met some of the biggest presidents in the world. Like Barack Obama, I performed for him when he came to Ghana. In fact, I made the song that brought him to Ghana. I’ve met with Robert Mugabe at his 92nd anniversary… He invited me to perform for him,” Blakk Rasta said.

Despite these career highlights, he admitted that the rewards have not matched the effort. “I know I do very good music; I have about 13 albums to my name but it doesn’t give me the money that I expect,” he told the pastor.

Blakk Rasta’s statement comes amid similar concerns raised in Ghana’s creative industry over the struggles of veteran artistes.
