Arathejay is a Ghanaian artiste

Ghanaian artiste Arathejay has stated that he wears a mask because in the early days of his career, he didn’t want to show his face.

In an interview on Hitz FM, the Jesus Christ hitmaker explained that his decision to wear a mask was based on a belief that music should be judged by its message, not by the image of the person behind it.

According to him, his focus from the beginning was to draw attention to the substance of his music. He wanted listeners to engage with his lyrics and message without being influenced by his physical appearance.

“Initially, I didn’t want to show my face, but now I’m showing my face. I believe music is not so much about image. But I believe it’s so much about what I have to say. So, you need to focus on what I have to say. Yeah. So initially I didn’t even want anyone to see me,” he said.

Arathejay revealed that his perspective began to shift after discussions with his team and management. They helped him understand the role of image in today’s music industry and how it can help amplify the message he wants to share.

“But as time went on, talking with the team, everything, you find an image to buttress the music. So, I had to show my face a little,” he said.

Though still wearing the mask, Arathejay hinted that he may soon unveil his full face to the public.

“I might probably take it off soon,” he added.
