Fast-rising Ghanaian rapper V12 Origenator has firmly denied allegations that he sampled Sarkodie’s hit track You Go Kill Me for his new single One Night.
Released on Friday, July 25, 2025, One Night sparked debate almost immediately, with some music commentators suggesting it borrowed elements from Sarkodie’s 2012 classic, produced by KillBeatz and featuring EL—a track widely regarded as a cornerstone of the Azonto revolution and included on Sarkodie’s Rapperholic album.
Addressing the controversy on Hot 93.9FM’s mid-morning show Ay3 Hu, V12 Origenator expressed shock at the claims.
“I’m amazed people are saying I sampled Sarkodie’s You Go Kill Me. My One Night song is an entirely different style,” he said.
The rapper, who insists he draws no inspiration from any Ghanaian artiste when writing, stressed that while he respects Sarkodie, his craft is wholly original.
He further urged critics to support emerging talents instead of discouraging them with unfair comparisons.
Produced by Pizaaro Beatz, One Night delves into the complexities of men’s desires, offering a layered reflection on human emotions through music. Its official visuals are slated for release on Friday, August 22, 2025.
