Actor Jim Iyke says polygamy can solve Africa's problems Actor Jim Iyke says polygamy can solve Africa’s problems

Nigerian actor Jim Iyke has caused a stir on social media after noting that monogamous marriages are the reason Africans are going through several problems.

In an interview with Nana Romeo shared on social media on July 30, 2025, Jim Iyke noted that polygamy, when practiced, can solve Africa’s problems.

He explained that initially, he did not believe in the concept of polygamous relationships; however, after careful analysis and experiences, he thinks it is for the best.

“I used to be dismayed about the concept of it, but I am beginning to be open to it. I think it might just solve the problem of the world. I have seen men who have practiced it, and somehow, I am beginning to see some resemblance to peace,” he stated.

The actor added that monogamy compels men to lie and cheat on their partners.

“Cheating and lying are such a disastrous thing to do. Every time you have to tell a new lie to cover the old one… You would never find peace,” he added.

Buttressing his points, Jim Iyke referred to the Bible, citing individuals who had more than one wife.

According to him, every man of valour in the Bible had more than one wife. He then emphasised the ideology that a man is supposed to marry one woman is a foreign concept for Africans to abandon their ancestral beliefs.

“Every man of note in the Bible had more than one wife. Every man of valour had more than one wife. It is a foreign concept, I think it is a Western concept, when they woke up to say truthfully, a man is built to be with more than one woman,” he stated.
