Ghanaian Afro-dancehall star Stonebwoy has finally broken his silence on the widely discussed altercation between him and Sarkodie’s manager, Angel Town, during an event in August.

In his first word-of-mouth address on the incident, the Burniton Music Group founder explained what transpired during an interview with Adesope Olajide.

According to Stonebwoy, the narrative surrounding the incident has made it appear as though he was an idle young man who went to Sarkodie’s event simply to cause trouble or meet the rapper.

He expressed frustration over the perception created by the incident, insisting that there was more to the situation than what had been publicly discussed.

“Because nobody is talking about that part, it is making it sound to the world that I’m just a little boy who had nothing to do and run to Sarkodie’s show to meet him. That is the picture that has been painted and I’m telling you now that this is the only time I have addressed this issue through word-of-mouth,” Stonebwoy said.

Stonebwoy also addressed the moment he slapped Angel Town, explaining that he apologised immediately after the incident.

He said that despite the confrontation, he did not simply leave the venue. Instead, he remained at the event for several hours and personally apologised to Sarkodie’s manager.

“I would have sat in my car and left after the incident,” he disclosed. “But I stayed and asked Angel, ‘If you say that my hand hit your eye or I slapped you, forgive because that’s not the intention’.”

According to Stonebwoy, he remained at the venue for approximately six hours despite not performing.

“That makes it six hours of waiting and not performing. I believe that I did the most I could do… he still went on to take the case to the police,” he added.

Stonebwoy suggested that his decision to remain at the venue and apologise should also form part of the conversation whenever the incident is discussed.

The musician further described the matter as something he considers to be in the past, but said he did not want the incident to create the impression that he deliberately went to disrupt Sarkodie’s event.

“To me, it is the thing of the past, but it shouldn’t be like an immature guy went to disrupt another brother’s event. It’s rather unfortunate that I couldn’t see us perform ‘Strength of a Woman’,” he stated.

The two artistes had been expected to share the stage and perform their collaboration, ‘Strength of a Woman’, but the altercation reportedly prevented that from happening.

Despite the controversy, Stonebwoy stressed the importance of mutual respect, suggesting that misunderstandings between people in the entertainment industry should not erase the professional relationship and history they share.

“Let’s give respect and get respect,” he concluded.
