Vice Chairman of the Black Stars Management Committee, Stephen Appiah, has commended the performance of the team following their big win over the Central African Republic (CAR).

At the Stade d’Honneur de Meknès on Wednesday afternoon, Ghana secured a 5-0 win against the Central African Republic to take a giant step towards their chances of qualifying for the Mundial tournament.

At the Stade d’Honneur de Meknès on Wednesday October 8, 2025, Ghana secured a 5-0 win against the Central African Republic to take a giant step towards their chances of qualifying for the Mundial tournament.

Goals from Mohammed Salisu, Thomas Partey, Alexander Djiku, Jordan Ayew, and Kamaldeen Sulemana sealed the emphatic win.

According to Appiah, the score line came as a big surprise as he lauded the team’s performance.

“I am so happy. The players have made us proud, and we are looking forward to Sunday,” he told Joy Sports.

“We are here because of the players. They have made us proud. Per what I saw at the two training sessions, I knew we were going to win, but I wasn’t expecting 5-0,” he added.

Ghana sits three points clear of Group I with Madagascar in second position ahead of the last round of games.

The four-time African champions will host Comoros on Sunday, October 12, at the Accra Sports Stadium, aiming to cap their 2026 World Cup qualifying campaign on a high note.

Kick-off for the decisive game is set for 19:00 GMT.
