Huge change that’ll finally stop the crazy queues outside testing centres – as Australians are told they officially have Covid if their rapid test is positive
Crazy queues for Covid-19 testing look set to end with the new that the Prime Minister has backtracked to make home testing kits free for millions of Australians.
Scott Morrison made the change on Wednesday afternoon, which should reduce the unpopular spectacle of anxious Aussies waiting for hours to get PCR lab tests to see if they have Omicron.
The move will allow millions of Australians to get rapid antigen tests from chemists without payment, which is expected to take the pressure off the current testing regime.
The 6.6 million most vulnerable Australians will now be given free rapid Covid tests after an emergency National Cabinet agreed to make stark changes to improve the chaotic testing system.
