While some movie legends who brought smiles to our faces during childhood have passed away, many are still with us, either continuing to act or pursuing other paths.

It is important to acknowledge that these film veterans, through their passion and dedication to the craft, sacrificed their sweat, tears, and blood to pave the way for the new generation.

Today, the current crop of actors are reaping the rewards of the solid foundation these veterans have set.

Although age has caught up with our screen titans, some of whom we haven’t heard from in years have continued to appear on screens, while others have stepped out of the spotlight to rest and spend quality time with family.

This article shines a light on what these screen legends are currently doing with their lives and how they now look.

    Brew Riverson Jnr

Ebenezer Henry Brew-Riverson Jnr, once a big name in the movie industry and the handsome young protagonist in films that many ladies crushed on, has made a significant contribution to the industry.

His career peaked in the 1980s and 1990s, both locally and internationally. In 1996, the veteran actor gained international recognition for starring in the popular American film Deadly Voyage.

After over three decades in the movie industry, Brew-Riverson Jnr announced the end of his acting career in 2016.

He later became a lecturer in the Theatre Arts Department at the University of Education, Winneba.

In 2024, he returned to the stage and featured in Uncle Ebo Whyte’s ‘Unhappy Wives, Confused Husbands’.

Currently, it appears the actor has ventured into evangelism, as he has been spotted several times on social media spreading the word of God.

He has been captured preaching about the negative influence of social media and entertainment in modern times.

@brewriversonjr In John 14:27 KJV, Jesus the Prince & King of Peace says – “Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.” ‭Romans 8:14 KJV‬ For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God. Experience Perfect Peace by choosing Jesus today! Rama Brew

Rama Brew, after gracing our screens for over 30 years, took some time off to relax and focus on her health and family.

Currently, she has made a fresh comeback with her show, Ultimate Paradise, where she aims to recreate some of the ‘most loved scenes’ from the original series that aired on our screens back in the 1990s.

The 69-year-old actress has also been spotted online teaching acting and offering advice on various topics, including love, life, and more.

    Grace Omaboe

Grace Omaboe became the protagonist in many episodes of Obra. She earned the name “Maame Dokono” from her role as a kenkey seller in the popular “Keteke”.

Her popularity on the screens grew when she hosted “By the Fireside”, where she told Ananse stories in the character of a “grandmother” to children sitting around her, under the moonlight, with burning firewood to warm the night.

She later ventured into politics before retiring from the screen completely.

Recently, she celebrated a milestone by turning 80 and released a book titled “Unforgettable Maame Dokono”.

Maame Dokono, a mother of six, continues to exude beauty and grace even in her 80s.

    Grace Nortey

Grace Nortey began her acting career in the 1970s, establishing herself as one of the pioneers of theatre and drama in Ghana.

With a career spanning over four decades, Grace Nortey consistently brought joy to Ghanaian households with her acting talent.

She was known for occasionally fusing the Ga language into her English roles, adding a touch of authenticity to her performances.

Grace Nortey’s acting skills earned her recognition, including the ‘Best Cameo Actress’ at the 2011 Ghana Movie Awards.

She recently celebrated her 87th birthday, with beautiful pictures of her circulating online, although it is evident that age has caught up with her.

Some of her notable films include ‘Nana Akoto’, ‘Sinking Sands’, ‘The Other Side of the Rich’, ‘Ties That Bind’, and ‘Beasts of No Nation’, where she shared the screen with Idris Elba, Fred Amugi, and Ama K. Abebrese.

She is currently basking in her retirement and focusing on her health.

    Edinam Atatsi

As one of the actresses who helped reshape the Ghana Movie Industry, Edinam Atatsi is a trendsetter who truly deserves to be celebrated.

Her first movie appearance was in ‘Abibigromma’, after which she went on to feature in numerous other films.

Some of her notable movies include ‘African Timber’, ‘The Destiny of Lesser Animals’, and P’enicillin’, among others.

With over 25 years of experience in film and theatre, Edinam has featured in more than 100 productions, both locally and internationally.

The multiple award-winning actress is currently the CEO of Elidza Production and the Head of the PR and Marketing Department at the National Theatre.

Edinam Atatsi is also a mentor to new and upcoming talents in the industry.

She broke into the movie scene in the early ’90s and captivated Ghanaians with her remarkable acting skills throughout the early 2000s.

Her film credits include, ‘The Storm’, ‘Heartbeat’, ‘Her Feet Go Down to Death’, ‘Aloe Vera’, and the popular ‘A Stab in the Dark’.
