Some personalities were spotted looking vibrant, colourful, and dapper as they took their oaths as Members of Parliament for the 9th Parliament, following the dissolution of the 8th Parliament on January 6, 2025.

The spotlight was on showbiz celebrities who successfully transitioned into parliamentary roles, with many showcasing their stunning outfits and polished appearances on this historic day.

For many of these showbiz personalities, it was their first time being sworn into Parliament, and they made sure to strike a balance between formality and style in their neatly-fitted attires.

Notable figures such as Ningo-Prampram MP Sam George, the famed Phyllis Naa Koryoo who won the Awutu Senya West seat over Hawa Koomson, and the NDC’s Elikplim Akurugu, who claimed the traditionally NPP-held ‘Dome Kwabenya’ seat, were among those who were spotted looking all ‘lit’ up.

Also, musician-turned-social commentator Kwame A Plus, who contested as an independent candidate and won the Gomoa Central seat, arrived in a dashing suit with his wife, Akosua Vee, in an equally stylish attire.

Traditional rulers, family members, and friends of the newly elected legislators also attended the ceremony, which unfolded peacefully.

    The 9th Parliament duly inaugurated

Members of Parliament elected from the December 7, 2024, elections were officially sworn into the House at midnight on Tuesday, January 7, 2025, with the election of the Speaker and his deputies following shortly after.

Alban Bagbin has been re-elected to preside over the 9th Parliament.

This development marks a significant moment ahead of the inauguration of John Dramani Mahama as President of the Fourth Republic of Ghana, which is scheduled for later the same day at the iconic Black Star Square in Accra.
