The Federation of International Football Association (FIFA) Council has ratified a record prize fund of $655 million, to be distributed fairly at the 2026 World Cup in the United States, Canada, and Mexico.

This represents a 50 per cent increase from the 2022 tournament hosted in Qatar.

The winner of the Mundial will receive $50 million, $8 million more than what Argentina got for wining the 2022 edition while the runners‑up will take home $33 million.

Third place will earn $29 million, and fourth place will receive $27 million. Teams reaching the quarter‑finals will earn $19 million.

Those eliminated in the Round of 16 will receive $15 million, while teams exiting at the Round of 32 will earn $11 million.

Teams that fail to progress from the group stage after three matches will earn $9 million.

In addition, each qualified team will receive $1.5 million to prepare and cover other expenses. This means every team is guaranteed a minimum of $10.5 million for participating.

The Black Stars’ earnings will depend on their performance in the tournament.

The announcement comes as FIFA face growing backlash over ticket pricing.

To ease the financial burden on supporters, the football governing body has introduced a new ticket category for loyal fans from qualified nations, priced at $60.
