The best places to buy Powerball tickets can be revealed as the jackpot surges to $100million.

According to The Lott, only two newsagents have sold more than one Powerball Division One-winning ticket in the past decade.

Tosh’s Convenience Store in Ayr, Queensland, and Vic Market Lotto in Melbourne have each sold two Division One-winning tickets since November 1, 2014.

The combined winnings from Tosh’s Convenience Store total $38.3million, while the two tickets sold at Vic Market Lotto amount to over $26million.

Nationwide, 176 players have claimed more than $4.78billion in Division One prizes. New South Wales leads with 66 winning tickets, followed by Victoria with 43 and Queensland with 38.

The largest single win in Powerball history was in South Australia, where one ticket won $150million in May.

The Lott Spokesperson Anna Hobdell said winners could come from anywhere but some regions seemed luckier than others.

‘My best piece of advice for anyone wanting the chance to win this week’s $100million jackpot is to grab an entry before the draw’s close at 7.30pm AEST on Thursday night,’ she said.

‘For additional inspiration, I can also reveal that PowerHit tickets, a unique entry type, delivered a quarter of all division one wins during the past decade.

‘Almost two-thirds of these Powerball winning entries have been QuickPicks, where the lottery terminal randomly selects the numbers.’

For those looking at choosing their own numbers, The Lott has found that 17, 7, 9, 2 and 28 were the most frequently drawn from the main barrel and 3 and 19 were the most frequently drawn Powerball numbers.

So far three Australians have taken home $100million each in Powerball winnings this year.

‘Christmas is a time for dreaming big, and with $100million on the line in Powerball, those dreams could become a reality this festive season and beyond,’ Ms Hobdell said.

The $100million jackpot is the sixth-biggest in Australian lottery history, with entries closing at 7.30pm November 28.
