Lawrence Osei has left Heart of Lions for a life abroad

Goalkeeper Lawrence Osei Baffour has defended his decision to relocate to the United States, questioning why anyone in his position would be expected to turn down such an opportunity.

The former Heart of Lions goalkeeper has faced criticism since the news broke about his departure from the Ghana Premier League, with some suggesting he abandoned his football career prematurely.

But Osei believes the criticism ignores the realities many young Ghanaians face.

“How many guys in Ghana will get this opportunity and decline it? Tell me, how many?” he asked. “

The 30-year-old revealed that the move was not a rushed decision, but one strongly supported and even pushed by his family.

“My father had to even force me by using immigration lawyers. Should I let my father’s money he has spent on me go to waste?” he quizzed.

Osei explained that beyond football, the decision was about long-term security and family sacrifice.

He insists that people judging him fail to consider the financial and emotional investment behind the move.
