A viral video capturing the moment Nigeria’s First Lady, Remi Tinubu, was welcomed at an event has sparked mixed reactions online.
The incident, which took place at a Nursing School Seminary in Delta State, caught the public attention to the response to the welcome address.
In the video, the event’s host could be heard singing in Pidgin, referring to the First Lady as “our mother.” However, the students immediately countered the chant, replying in unison, “That’s your mother, not ours.”
Despite the host’s repeated attempts to get the students to acknowledge Remi Tinubu as “their mother,” they remained firm in their stance, continuously responding, “That’s your mother, not ours.”
Their uniform response created a striking moment, that many social media users found amusing, while others viewed it as an expression of their discontent.
The video has since generated widespread reactions, with many Nigerians supporting the students.
While some described the situation as both humorous and embarrassing, others commended the students for refusing to accept what they saw as an imposed label.
Below are some of the comments;
“Na the mama of all sycophants and reprobates. These girls are true queens.”
“Why would anyone say these words? Ignoring their own mothers They mc did too much juur”
“The MC kept repeating the song so that the woman go hear am well say them no want her I like the MC, he knew what he was doing I’m sure she must have heard it clearly”
