Billionaire businessman, Femi Otedola, has shared a touching story of how he bought two houses in Dubai to celebrate the marriage of his daughter Temi, to Nigerian singer, Mr Eazi.

In a heartfelt speech at the wedding reception of the couple, Otedola recounted how for 15 years, he had toured about 70 properties in Dubai without making a purchase.

Then, on a spontaneous trip to Dubai Hills with Temi, she pointed out a beautiful house and suggested he buy it for the wedding.

“So, we saw this beautiful house, and Temi said to me, ‘Papa, you know, I can have an engagement ceremony at this house. Why don’t you buy it?’ That’s what she said. So, I got home. I slept on it. I said, ‘Eh? I’m going to spend all this money on this house. Something else struck me that ‘Come on, money you don’t spend is not yours. Life is for the living.’ So I bought it,” he said.

The engagement ceremony was held there.

Remarkably, according to Otedola, they didn’t stop at one. About eight months later, the agent called again about a newly completed home on the same street.

“Temi came to visit me. Again, I said, ‘Temi, there’s one house. Let’s go look at it.’ We got there, and Temi said, ‘Papa, you know, this will be nice for the afterparty.’ I said ‘you are very unserious.’

“But I bought it. And we had the afterparty there,” he added.

    A fairytale wedding

In 2025, Temi Otedola and Mr Eazi crafted what many are calling the most memorable multi-continental wedding to date.

The journey began on May 9 in Monaco, chosen intentionally as it falls on the birthday of Mr Eazi’s late mother.

Two months later, the couple honoured their Nigerian roots with a lavish Yoruba traditional ceremony in Dubai, held at the Otedola family home.

The grand finale unfolded in Iceland on August 8 with a breathtaking white wedding at Hallgrímskirkja Church in Reykjavik.
