Popular actor Prince David Osei has joined fresh calls for the government to tackle the longstanding issue of frequent power outages, popularly known as ‘dumsor’.

He questioned how the government’s flagship policy, the 24-hour economy, can succeed amid frequent power outages.

Taking to X on April 29, 2025, the actor also raised concerns about the reported cases of dumsor across parts of the country, particularly in Accra, which, according to him, has left crippled businesses and affected thousands of Ghanaians.

“How can a country achieve a 24-hour economy when basic utilities like electricity can’t even be provided for 10 hours? It seems like a distant dream. #stopdumsornow,” he posted.

Prince David Osei’s post has since been met with mixed reactions on social media.

Many pointed out that the actor, who was a loud proponent of the #DumsorMustStop protests in 2015 during President John Dramani Mahama’s first administration, was relatively silent during the New Patriotic Party (NPP) administration when cases of dumsor were also reported.
