At least one person is injured after a small plane crashed near Hampton Airfield in New Hampshire.

Reports say a small aircraft crashed into trees at the end of a runway at the airfield.

Emergency personnel raced to the scene, with early reports stating the pilot seen was out and walking around after the incident.

It is not clear how many people were aboard the plane or if there are any further injuries.

It comes after a wave of aviation accidents have rocked the US in recent weeks, including one of the worst air disasters in recent memory 13 days ago when an American Airlines passenger jet collided with a military helicopter over Reagan National Airport.

Days later, a small air ambulance crash landed in Pennsylvania, killing six people aboard the jet and a seventh on the ground.

These disasters were followed by a small jet dropping off radars in Alaska last week, leading to the deaths of all 10 people on board.
