A man has been crushed to death after being trapped beneath 300 kilograms of glass at a residential property in Sydney’s north‑west.
Emergency services rushed to a home on Valencia Street in Dural just after 11am on Monday following reports a massive quantity of glass had collapsed onto a man.
On arrival crews found the man aged in his 50s, pinned beneath the heavy load and unable to free himself.
Fire and Rescue NSW, including specialist technical rescue crews, worked alongside NSW Ambulance paramedics in a complex and painstaking rescue operation to reach the victim.
Despite the deployment of specialist paramedics and frantic efforts at the scene, the man could not be revived and was pronounced dead.
Police have established a crime scene and have launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
There are unconfirmed reports the sheet of glass fell off the side of a truck onto the man.
