Unbeaten Japanese prospect Hiroki Horiike (9-0, 6 KOs; amateur 21-6), 140, impressively retained the OPBF super lightweight belt twice when he lopsidedly gave a sound lesson to Korean champ Tak Yoon (7-3-1, 7 KOs) 139.5, floored him in round three and finally battered him from all angles, prompting the third man’s stoppage at 2:42 of the seventh round on Saturday at the Korakuen Hall, Tokyo, Japan. Hiroki proved faster, more skillful and accurate than the aggressive Korean so that he had Yoon absorb much punishment as the contest progressed. Catching up with him with a flurry of punches, Hiroki accelerated his attack to bring home the bacon soon and the ref made a well-timed stoppage. Horiike, 24, looked promising enough to keep watching.
