Charles Taylor, former Black Stars forward

Charles Taylor, a former Black Stars forward, has proposed an exclusive meeting between players of the Black Stars and the new Minister of Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams, as a key step in addressing the issues affecting the team.

Speaking on Angel FM, Charles Taylor opined the current situation cannot be allowed to continue and that Kofi Adams must take immediate steps to build a relationship with the players.

He noted that the players are unable to replicate their club form at the national team level due to their unhappiness with a myriad of things in the camp.

“We should ask why our players thrive with their clubs but cannot do the same with the Black Stars. That is why I am suggesting to the new sports minister to hold a meeting exclusively with the playing body. He should meet the players alone and understand their situation.

He should hold a forum and understand the issues that are affecting them. That’s the only way to turn things around for them. If we leave things to Otto Addo alone, we will continue to have issues.

These same players who are getting us bad results can help us get good results. It all comes down to the minister meeting them and understanding what is disturbing them,” he said.

The Black Stars, who failed to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, are due to return to action in March for the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.

Ghana will face Chad and Madagascar in the March 17 to March 25 international window.

The Black Stars are currently second in the group with nine points from four matches.
