Media personality and entertainment analyst Nana Romeo has questioned the state of Ghana’s music scene, stating that 2025 has been unusually quiet.

Speaking on his show on Okay FM, Nana Romeo said 2025 has witnessed very few songs take over the airwaves in the music industry.

He noted that in previous years, the music scene was vibrant with back-to-back hits from different artistes, but that momentum seems to have slowed down in 2025.

Too much popularity will bring problems – Nana Romeo to Sam George

According to him, within the secular space this year, only Medikal and Shatta Wale’s “Shoulder” can be described as a hit.

He explained that most other songs released in 2025 seem to gain attention briefly and then fade away

“This year, 2025, we can actually count the number of hit songs compared to previous years. Back then, there were hits upon hits, but this year, I don’t know what’s going on. The only secular song that really got attention was Medikal and Shatta Wale’s Shoulder. After that, every other song just feels normal, they come and fade quickly.

“So the question is, are our musicians not making better or quality songs anymore, or is it just that things have changed naturally?” Nana Romeo asked.

He added that many artistes he has spoken to claim they are putting in the work, investing in radio and social media promotions, yet their songs fail to catch on the way they used to.
