Ghana’s music industry has been hit with shocking news following reports that legendary highlife musician Daddy Lumba, born Charles Kwadwo Fosuh, has passed away.
According to information available online and sighted on blog such as Nydjlive.com, the musician passed away in the early hours of Saturday, July 26, 2025, at the Bank Hospital in Cantoment-Accra.

It was also revealed that the musician has been unwell for a while even though the actual cause of death is immediately unknown.
This latest development is contrary to some remarks made by renowned radio presenter Andy Dosty earlier on his weekend entertainment show on Hitz FM that Lumba was well and healthy.
This heartbreaking news was first shared by one of his most devoted fans and a key member of his official fan club, Yaw Appiah, who is also a well-known sports presenter and radio personality.
Taking to his Facebook wall, Yaw Appiah expressed his sorrow, hinting at the passing of the musical legend.
As of now, there has been no official statement from Daddy Lumba’s family or management, and the cause of his death is currently unknown.

Born on September 29, 1964, in Nsuta Amangoase in the Ashanti Region, Daddy Lumba was revered as the undisputed king of Ghanaian highlife music, with a career spanning over three decades.
From his early days leading the school choir at Juaben SHS, to becoming an international music icon with over 33 albums, his journey inspired generations.
He is best known for timeless hits such as “Aben Wo Ha”, “Theresa”, “Poison”, “Ofon Na Edi Asem Fo”, and more recently, “Mpempem Do Me”—a song that was featured in King Charles III’s Commonwealth Day playlist in 2025.
In 2022, Daddy Lumba expanded his reach by launching DLFM 106.9, a Twi-language radio station, solidifying his presence in Ghanaian media beyond music.
