Highest Eri is an entertainment journalist

Ghanaian entertainment journalist Highest Eri has opened up about the sexual harassment and exploitation she faced while trying to secure employment early in her career.

Speaking in an interview on Okay FM on November 25, 2025, she disclosed that several men attempted to take advantage of her because she had no connections in the media industry.

According to her, some employers demanded sexual favours before considering her for a job.

“Some of the challenges I faced were me looking for a job after I graduated and the person I met wanted to have his way with me before giving me the job,” she said.

Highest Eri explained that many people assumed she lacked influential links, which made them feel entitled to exploit her.

“People think you don’t know anyone, to whom you know but since you don’t know anyone, they would want to take advantage,” she stated.

She recounted an incident where a media house was laying off workers and hiring new ones. After submitting her CV, the HR representative immediately made inappropriate advances.

“I remember when one media house was laying people off and employing new people. I took my CV there and handed it over to the HR. He dropped it and asked me to call him at 7 p.m. I then asked him if they employ people at that time and he said I should just call him so we can talk,” she shared.

The situation became more revealing when he later invited her to meet him at a hotel.

“When he called me, he asked me to meet him at a hotel. I told him I didn’t know that now TV stations sleep with people before securing a job,” she said.

She emphasised that many young women face similar challenges, but knowing one’s value helps avoid falling victim.

“Some of the challenges are, you meet these people because they want to sleep with you. If you know your worth, you know what you’re capable of doing; you wouldn’t give them that chance,” she noted.

Highest Eri said she has never given in to such demands, despite receiving similar offers frequently.

“I’ve never been a victim even though I get that offer a lot. Even if I like the man, let me throw myself at you. When he makes it seem like I’m sleeping with him for a job, that wouldn’t happen,” she added.
