The Accra High Court has adjourned its ruling on an application seeking to stop the release of the remains of highlife icon Charles Kwadwo Fosu, popularly known as Daddy Lumba, to Friday, December 12.

The application was filed by members of the late musician’s maternal family, who argue that, under Akan custom, they hold exclusive traditional and legal authority to organise his funeral. They insist that no other group has the mandate to take custody of the body or oversee funeral arrangements.

After listening to arguments from both the plaintiffs and defendants, the presiding judge suspended the ruling to allow the court more time to review the submissions.

The court’s decision on Friday is expected to determine who legally has the right to organise the funeral, take custody of the remains, and manage any memorial fund associated with the celebrated musician.
