Executive Council Member of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Nana Oduro Sarfo, has disclosed that the President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Kurt Okraku, is indisposed, hence his public absence.
He noted that Okraku is aware of the recent happenings in football in the country, especially the tragic demise of Asante Kotoko fan Francis Yaw Frimpong, also known as Pooley.
However, the GFA president’s unstable health condition has prevented him from showing up in public to console the bereaved family and Kotoko.
Speaking during the GFA’s visit to Kotoko officials, Oduro Sarfo disclosed that Okraku is not in Ghana and would visit the club when he returns from abroad.
“We have engaged him on the phone, and we would not want to go into the details of the conversation. Since the incident happened, most people have not seen Kurt publicly. He is unwell and currently not in the country.
“When I meet Nana, I can tell him more about it. He would have been here if there was nothing wrong. When he recovers, he will be here to engage the Kotoko family and everyone,” he stated.
Some GFA officials have visited Pooley’s family to console them and urged them to stay strong during these trying moments.
Meanwhile, the Ghana Police Service have arrested six people believed to be involved in the chaotic incident that led to the demise of the Asante Kotoko supporter.
Pooley was stabbed during Kotoko’s game against Nsoatreman on February 2, 2025.
