Semenyo is a player of Bournemouth

Bournemouth fans have unveiled a new chant for Ghanaian forward, Antoine Semenyo, with away supporters at Anfield belting out the words “He’s got the power to go” during their Premier League opener against Liverpool on Friday, August 15, 2025.

The song, captured in a fan-shared video, rang out across the away section as the Cherries rallied around their striker on an emotional and controversial night.

The match itself was filled with drama. Liverpool had earlier paid tribute to the late Diogo Jota and his brother André Silva before kick-off.

Then, midway through the first half, play was halted when Semenyo reported alleged racist abuse from the stands. A 47-year-old Liverpool supporter was later arrested on suspicion of a racially aggravated public order offence.

When the game resumed, Semenyo responded in the best way possible on the pitch. He scored twice to put Bournemouth level after they had fallen 2-0 behind, stunning the Anfield crowd with his explosive display.

Liverpool eventually restored control to seal a 4-2 win, thanks to goals from Federico Chiesa and Mohamed Salah, but it was Semenyo who stole much of the spotlight.

Semenyo joined Bournemouth in January 2023 from Bristol City, netting just once in his debut Premier League campaign. However, he found his stride in the 2024/25 season, scoring 11 league goals and providing five assists.

This term, he has already made a blistering start with two goals in a single game, underlining why the fans have quickly turned him into a cult hero.
