Ghanaian hype man Ogee the MC has shared the story behind his longtime connection with Stonebwoy, a relationship he describes as built on mutual respect, mentorship, and years of creative collaboration.

Speaking in an interview with ZionFelix, Ogee traced their friendship back to the early 2010s, long before he became a staple figure at Stonebwoy’s performances.

“Me Stonebwoy and go way back, I think 2013 or 2014. I was in Takoradi University (T Ploy) with one of his former managers, where he’d show up for freestyles,” Ogee recalled. “But we were not close at that time. Our relationship started properly in Accra after I was introduced as an MC.”

According to Ogee, their bond deepened after the Ashaiman to the World Concert, where he promised they would meet again when he was worried he didn’t see him to give him something after the event. Since then, he has always shown up wherever Stonebwoy has a show.

He described Stonebwoy as a visionary who spots talent before others do. “Stonebwoy believes in talent. He even sees what’s inside someone before the person realises,” Ogee said, adding that the singer constantly encourages him to push his limits.

Ogee expressed gratitude for being featured on ‘The Torcher’ EP, saying, “I’ve learned a lot from him. He always supports good ideas when you bring them up. Our relationship has been there for a long time.”

After the tragic passing of singer Ebony Reigns, Ogee said he relocated to Canada and considered not returning to Ghana. But Stonebwoy urged him to come back and continue their work together. “He told me we should work again, and it wasn’t something new since the relationship was already there,” Ogee recounted.

Even before Ogee returned home, Stonebwoy had shared details of his upcoming tour with him, including shows in Paris and across Europe, a gesture that confirmed their close working relationship.

Reflecting on the journey, Ogee described Stonebwoy not just as a collaborator, but as family, someone whose belief in him reshaped his career and reignited his passion for music.
