The Eastern Corridor Road is in a deplorable state
After years of delays and frustration for commuters, the government has set a firm deadline for the completion of the Eastern Corridor Road.
The Minister of Roads and Highways, Kwame Governs Agbodza, has assured Ghanaians that the project will be fully completed by December 2027.
The Eastern Corridor Road, often described as one of the longest single road networks in the country, stretches from Esikuma Junction through Peki, Have, Golokwati, Hohoe, Jasikan, Dodi Pepeso, Kpassa, and Oti-Domanko.
While the traditional corridor begins from Tema, the minister explained that the current focus is on completing these critical sections within the promised timeframe.

Speaking on JoyNews’ Super Morning Show, Agbodza acknowledged the challenges that have plagued the project over the years.
“It could probably be one of the longest roads as one single road in our country. Unfortunately, whatever happened in the past did not complete all the sections,” he said.
“All the sections are under contract,” the Roads Minister stated.
The completion of the Eastern Corridor Road is expected to transform travel and trade across the eastern belt of Ghana.
