The Minister of Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams, has stated that his office will make the Black Stars’ budget for the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers public, in fulfillment of President John Mahama’s directive for transparency in national teams’ financing.

Speaking at a press conference in Accra on Tuesday, September 2, 2025, Adams emphasised that the public disclosure of the Black Stars’ budget aligns with President Mahama’s reset agenda to restore accountability and trust in Ghanaian sports.

“As part of H.E. John Dramani Mahama’s government agenda to ensure sunlight is brought to every space. Expenditure relating to our national teams, especially the football sector, should not be kept secret. This was highlighted in his address to Parliament earlier this year,” he said.

The decision follows months of scrutiny over the ministry’s initial reluctance to publicise budgets for the Black Stars’ earlier outings, addressing public and media concerns about transparency in sports financing.
