The State Funeral is expected to be led by President John Dramani Mahama and his Vice, Prof. Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang.

Other mourners will include the families of the deceased, Ministers of State and Members of Parliament, the judiciary, the diplomatic community, the clergy, traditional authorities, friends and sympathisers.

Alhaji Muniru Mohammed,Acting Dep. National Security Coordinator
Dr Samuel Sarpong, 2nd Vice Chairman, NDC
Mr Samuel Aboagye, Former Parliamentary candidate, NDC
    Squadron Leader Peter Anala
    Flying Officer Mane Twum-Ampadu
    Sgt. Ernest Addo Mensah
    Dr Omane Boamah, Defence Minister
    Murtala Mohammed,Environment Minister (2)

All mourners are to be seated by 07:00am. The funeral commences at 08:00am.

Ahead of the State Funeral, a Requiem Mass is expected to be held for two of the victims – Dr Edward Kofi Omane Boamah and Squadron Leader Peter Bafemi Anala – at the Christ The King Catholic Church here in Accra today, Thursday August 14, 2025.

The eight victims, onboard a Z9 helicopter operated by the Ghana Air Force, died in the crash in the Adansi area in the Ashanti Region enroute to Obuasi on Wednesday August 6, 2025.

The rest of the deceased were Alhaji Dr Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed, MP, Tamale Central and Minister for Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation and Alhaji Limuna Mohammed Muniru, the Acting Deputy National Security Coordinator and a former Minister for Food and Agriculture.

Others were Dr Samuel Sarpong, the Second National Vice Chairman of the governing National Democratic Congress and a former Ashanti Regional Minister and Samuel Aboagye, a former NDC Parliamentary Candidate for the Obuasi East Constituency and Deputy Coordinator of NADMO.

The rest were Flying Officer Manin Twum-Ampadu, and Sergeant Ernest Addo Mensah.

Two of the victims, Dr Murtala and Alhaji Muniru were on Sunday interred at the Military Cemetery, Accra, in line with Islamic tradition.

Their tragic passing has thrown the country into a state of shock as a nation mourns its fallen heroes.

In a tribute on a night of memorial and reflections on Saturday, President John Dramani Mahama described the victims of the crash as “dedicated public servants, united by their commitment to Ghana’s success.”
