Heavy security presence was spotted as scores of supporters of the two embattled wives of late Highlife legend Daddy Lumba gathered at the Kumasi High Court for the final ruling in the long-standing court battle over who has the right to perform widowhood rites for the artiste.

The ruling, scheduled for Friday, November 28, follows months of tension between Akosua Serwaa Fosu, who is the plaintiff, and Priscilla Ofori, popularly known as “Odo Broni.”

Presiding judge Her Ladyship Dorinda Smith Arthur announced the judgment date during proceedings on Tuesday, November 25.

Ahead of the verdict, the court premises were heavily guarded, as large crowds of supporters from both sides thronged the area.

However, according to reports, the hearing, which was expected to commence at 11 a.m., faced a delay due to the judge running late.

Notable personalities, including Evangelist Papa Shee and Lawson FM/TV host Kwame Tanko, were seen at the courthouse, alongside the legal teams for the two women.

Akosua Serwaa, the plaintiff, is asking the court to declare her the only surviving wife of the late musician, a recognition that would grant her exclusive authority to perform all widowhood rites.

She is also seeking an order restraining Odo Broni from presenting herself as the late star’s wife.

Five witnesses have testified in the case—three for the plaintiff and one each for first defendant Abusua Panin Kofi Owusu and second defendant Priscilla Ofori.

During the proceedings, Akosua Serwaa’s legal team submitted what they described as the original civil marriage certificate between her and the late musician. Although the defence raised questions about its authenticity, the court admitted it into evidence.

The much-anticipated ruling is expected to settle the heated dispute that has overshadowed preparations for Daddy Lumba’s funeral, drawing national attention to the battle over who legally qualifies as his widow.

Meanwhile, the immediate family has announced that the funeral for Daddy Lumba will take place on December 13, 2025.
