Forget jewellery, headwear or corsages – the most important accessory Sam Kerr brought to her star-studded wedding was a baby bottle for her son Jagger.
The Matildas star wed Kristie Mewis in a stunning ceremony in Perth on New Year’s Eve, with a heartwarming pic from the lead-up to the ceremony showing her holding her boy’s next meal shortly before proceedings got underway.
Jagger played a starring role in the nuptials, with Sam carrying the couple’s seven-month-old down the aisle, with Mewis bursting into happy tears.
The youngster, who was dressed in black slacks and a white collared shirt, was driven to the venue from the Crown Towers hotel in a minivan with Sam and her parents, Roger and Roxanne, along with the Chelsea star’s brother Daniel and her nieces.
‘That is going to be gut-wrenching for me, I will sob when that happens,’ Kristie had told the Mewis Squared podcast when she was asked about Jagger’s role in the ceremony in the days preceding the wedding.
Kerr and Mewis’s little boy was seen being held by Roger during the ceremony, which took place at the magnificent Venetian estate, Villa Dionysus, 23km north-east of Perth‘s CBD.

Kerr wore a stylish tux for the wedding, which was attended by more than 100 friends and family on a sweltering day in Perth
The tuxedo-clad bride and her loved ones set out for the venue at around 4.30pm in 35-degree heat, and her Matildas teammates and other invitees soon followed.
As part of the dress code, invitees all wore black outfits, with Kerr’s Matildas team-mate Emily Van Egmond also seen wearing a black tuxedo complete with a bow tie.
Steph Catley, Mackenzie Arnold and Alanna Kennedy all looked stunning as they departed for the Villa.
Catley stunned in a glamorous black strapless dress. The 31-year-old defender had returned to Australia from the UK after playing for Arsenal on December 21 and got to celebrate Christmas with her family.
Her Arsenal team-mates, Caitlin Foord and her girlfriend Katie McCabe, who hails from Ireland, arrived wearing stunning black gowns.
Kennedy and Arnold both appeared locked in conversation as they boarded the bus.
The pair had opted to wear black trousers, with the former donning a corset with a keyhole cut out on her midriff. Arnold, who wore a black dinner vest, was seen showing Kennedy something on her phone.
Kerr’s Aussie teammates gathered around, toasting the newlyweds as a violin and cello duo played in the corner of the villa.

But in searing 35-degree Perth heat, some sought shelter, with multiple members of the wedding party seen taking cover from the sun under white parasols.
The ceremony was held in front of the villa’s stunning pilasters and arches.
Mewis also touched her wife’s arm during the ceremony in a show of affection, before smiling back at her partner.
After Kerr and Mewis had said ‘I do’, the pair stopped and shared a kiss in front of the wedding party, who cheered and clapped the happy couple.
The footballers mingled with other guests during the ceremony, with Kerr also seen sharing a big hug with her father, Roger.
Before the wedding, Kristie, who previously played for West Ham and the women’s US National Team, joked that she was a little nervous about having to meet and greet over 100 people all in one night.
‘Obviously, it is a lot of people, I know people have a lot bigger weddings than that, but that’s a lot,’ she said to the Mewis Squared podcast.
‘For me to wrap my head around talking to 120 people in one night is a lot.
‘And the things that worry me are that I’m not going to be able to give enough time to everybody, so that’s what I’m stressing about right now.’
