Hearts of Oak right-back Michael Ampadu is set to rejoin his teammates in training on Monday following a reconciliation with head coach Aboubakar Ouattara.

The club announced the resolution in a statement on Sunday, January 5, signalling a fresh start for the player and coach.

In their statement on X (formerly Twitter), Hearts of Oak said, “Our right-back, Michael Ampadu, has ‘Smoked the Peace Pipe’ with head coach Aboubakar Ouattara and is set to return to training on Monday as the team resumes preparations for the remainder of the season.

“Ampadu and coach Ouattara have officially mended their differences after the player expressed deep remorse and rendered an unqualified apology during a visit to the coach’s residence.”

Michael Ampadu was joined by the team captain, Benjamin Asare, and deputy captain, Osei Asibey, during the reconciliation visit.

The gesture is seen as a significant step towards rebuilding trust and fostering unity within the team.

The defender also extended gratitude to the club’s Executive Board Chairman, His Royal Highness Togbe Afede XIV, for his instrumental role in mediating and resolving the misunderstanding.
