Asare now looks to cement his place as Ghana’s long-term No. 1

Benjamin Asare’s rapid ascent in Ghanaian football reached new heights as the Hearts of Oak and Black Stars goalkeeper was named Goalkeeper of the Year at the 2025 Ghana Football Awards.

The 24-year-old enjoyed a sensational season, establishing himself as the Phobians’ undisputed No. 1 before earning his maiden national team call-up earlier this year.

His commanding presence, sharp reflexes, and crucial saves made him a standout performer in the Ghana Premier League, where his team managed a top four finish.

His impressive performances saw him break into the Ghana National Team, the Black Stars, where he kept clean sheets in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers, putting the former African champions in pole position to qualify for the tournament.

With his career on an upward trajectory, Asare now looks to cement his place as Ghana’s long-term No. 1.
