The Health Sector Public Relations Association, Ghana (HESPRAG), has officially been inaugurated, with a call on public relations professionals across the health sector to strengthen communication systems to support national health development.

The ceremony, held on Wednesday, November 26, 2025, at the Ministry of Health, was themed “Strengthening Health Communication for National Development.”

The Guest of Honour, Dr Hafez Adam, Director of Technical Coordination at the Ministry of Health, emphased the Ministry’s commitment to building a people-centred, responsive and transparent health system.

He described the new association as a critical partner in achieving national health goals.

Dr Adam said he was encouraged by HESPRAG’s objectives, noting that they align with both national priorities and global best practices. However, he outlined clear expectations the Ministry holds for the newly inaugurated association.

“We expect you to promote the well-being and motivation of your members,” he said.

“A communicator who feels supported and valued is better positioned to engage the public with clarity and compassion.”

He further stressed the need for continuous learning to keep pace with evolving digital trends, health literacy demands and modern communication approaches.

Delivering his remarks, Mustafa Salifu, Interim President of HESPRAG, pledged the association’s commitment to advancing the welfare of PR officers across the Ministry’s agencies and health institutions.

He called for strong collaboration between HESPRAG and the Ministry to ensure that communicators have the resources and support needed to execute their roles effectively.

“When PR officers are empowered, the Ministry’s vision will be communicated with clarity,” Salifu stated.

He urged members to move forward in unity and purpose, emphasising that their collective effort would significantly contribute to national well-being.
