Debibi United striker Kwadwo Antwi has expressed gratitude and excitement after his stunning hat-trick inspired hia side to historic promotion to the Ghana Premier League.
Debibi United defeated Tamale City FC 3-1 at the Accra Sports Stadium to secure qualification to the 2026/27 Ghana Premier League season for the very first time in the club’s history.
The playoff clash initially started positively for Tamale City after Victor Kodom opened the scoring, but Antwi produced a sensational turnaround with three first-half goals to complete a memorable comeback victory for the ‘United for Victory’ outfit
Reacting after the historic triumph, the hat-trick hero thanked God for the achievement and reflected on his journey.
“I’m grateful to God for this record and excited for how far he’s brought me,” Antwi said after the game.
The forward also admitted uncertainty remains over whether the current squad will stay together ahead of life in the Ghana Premier League next season.
“On playing in the GPL next season, all I can say is we’re compact at the moment but I don’t know whether some of us will stay or leave,” he stated.
Despite that uncertainty, Antwi remains optimistic about the club’s future if the core of the team is maintained.
“When we maintain the same squad then we will do well and it’s possible we can win the league,” he added confidently following Debibi United’s historic promotion.
