Harrowing new footage shows the moment an aspiring actress was washed off a rock and into the sea by a giant wave in Thailand.

Tourist Kamilla Belyatskaya, 24, was on her yoga mat as she was overcome by the force of the raging sea.

Grainy videos showed how the Russian woman was thrown from her favourite rock, a beauty spot on the island of Koh Samui, just two weeks before her planned wedding.

She was also seen struggling and buffeted in the frothing sea in the Gulf of Thailand but drowned before she could be saved.

Her body was washed ashore two-thirds of a mile from where she was lost.

Kamilla had earlier posted on what a special place this was for her, calling it ‘home’ and ‘the best place on earth’.

Her bereaved fiancé Grigorii Anokhin was quoted as saying the couple had been due to wed back in Russia in mid-December.

‘On the day of the accident, my girlfriend said she was going to play tennis, but I did not know that she had stopped by to relax at the Lad Koh viewpoint,’ he said.

‘I only found out what had happened from social media. I was devastated and immediately went to the area to help look for her.’

Holidaymakers gathered at the site and watched helplessly as the sea washed Kamilla Belyatskaya away

After holding on as two large waves hit, a final devastating wall of water smashes into her and she disappears into the sea.

The couple had been together for five years and intended to marry in Russia this month.

‘We had already taken pre-wedding photos in the hope of living together when we returned to Russia,’ he said.

A foreign man reportedly went into the waves to try and save her, without success. His fate is not known.

Police issued a strong warning to tourists about crashing waves and surging currents after her tragic loss.

New footage of the tragedy has since emerged showing tourists gathering at the area and watching helplessly as Kamilla was taken by the waves.

Standing behind the safety of a sea wall as the waves crash, a woman is seen reaching her arm out as the young woman was dragged into the sea by the ferocious water.

Nearby, a man covers his face in apparent horror at what has happened, while another holidaymaker films the shocking events.

Kamilla, who hails from Russia’s third-largest city Novosibirsk in Siberia, previously shared footage taken at the beauty spot where she died.

‘I love Samui so much,’ she says in the tragic video. ‘But this place, this rocky beach is the best thing I’ve ever seen in my life.

‘Thank you, universe, for me being here right now. I’m very happy. I’m happy!’

She had gone to the Lad Ko Viewpoint to watch the waves, and was seen arriving nearby in a red car before seemingly going alone to the rocks.

She retrieved a pink foam mat from the boot of her car before walking to the beauty spot which offers panoramic views of the island.

Later the mat was seen floating in the violent seas off Koh Samui, one of Thailand’s most popular islands.

Rescue teams were hampered by the raging seas and while they arrived only 15 minutes after she was swept into the sea, there was nothing they could do to save the tourist.

Her boyfriend along with eyewitnesses gave statements to local police on the tragedy.

‘The incident serves as a stark reminder of the dangers posed by monsoon conditions, with authorities urging visitors to exercise extreme caution and avoid rocky coastal areas during periods of high waves,’ said one Thai report.

Thailand is increasingly popular with Russian tourists, including men seeking to avoid being forced into Vladimir Putin’s war against Ukraine.

Some 1.48 million visited Thailand in the last year.

Chaiyaporn Subprasert, head of the Samui Rescue Centre, said warning systems were in place across the island’s beaches.

‘During monsoon season, we constantly warn tourists, especially in high-risk areas like Chaweng and Lamai beaches, where red flags indicate no swimming.

‘While the incident’s location is not a swimming area but rather a viewpoint for scenery, the victim may have been caught off guard by the unexpected wave surge.’
