The team Saglemi Not for Sale has called on the president-elect, John Dramani Mahama to urgently halt all ongoing construction processes following the growing concerns about the current state of the housing project and the involvement of private enterprises who only seek to profit rather than creating affordable housing for many Ghanaians.

They urge the government to initiate a thorough investigation into the project’s contractual documents on the Saglemi construction process.

In their statement, Team Saglemi Not For Sale initially congratulated John Dramani Mahama upon emerging as the winner of the 2024 general election.

The group pointed out their role as a civil society group that constantly opposed the outgoing administration’s attempts to sell the Saglemi Housing Project to private interests.

They reiterated their commitment to protecting the project’s intended purpose, which was to provide affordable housing for Ghanaians, but they believe has been compromised.

The statement emphasized the rising concerns about the lack of transparency surrounding the contractual terms of the project, describing it as some sort of secret arrangement provoking many questions about the housing project.

Signed by the Team Saglemi Not for Sale Convener, Nana Otu Darko, they expressed their distress over the private involvement in the project, not opposing the idea of private partnerships in government.
