This is the astounding moment a tourist captured the moment a volcano erupted behind him as he tried to pose for a dramatic snap.

But this time he went to extremes when he visited and climbed Mount Dukono in North Maluku, Indonesia, last week.

Footage shows a crater surrounded by grey rocks and rubble. Within seconds, a red mass begins to rise from below, moving the floor of rocks higher and higher.

Suddenly, a loud bang is heard and rocks can be seen flying from the crater, as lava and begins to ooze out.

Huge grey clouds then rise from the crater while Echa, unfazed by the danger, poses for a photo in front of the eruption while mounds of ash fill the air.

The content creator captioned the post: ‘Dukono Volcano.’

The video has gathered over 224,000 likes and 1,200 comments from users.

This is not the first time that a reckless tourist has risked it all for a selfie.

Back in December, a selfie-taking tourist in Taiwan was hit by a moving train as she tried to take a photo with the on-coming locomotive.

Despite the collision with the Alishan Forest Railway train in Chiayi on December 14, the holidaymaker miraculously survived.

The shocking incident was captured on camera, with footage showing the 55-year-old woman trying to capture a shot of herself with the train in the background.

In the clip, she can be seen moving around to get the right angle as she edges closer and closer to the train tracks.

The driver honks the vehicle’s horn in a desperate attempt to alert the tourist, but she continues to focus on her selfies.

The front corner of the driver’s carriage then connects with the woman’s shoulder and sends her tumbling to the ground.

The train operator immediately stopped the train to check on the tourist.

Local media reported that she sustained an injury to her left foot from the collision.

The incident caused a 60-minute delay, affecting around 62 passengers and five trips.

A police investigation revealed that the group had violated regulations by entering the track area.
